Chelsea Apartment
Located on Sixth Avenue in Chelsea, this four-bedroom Manhattan apartment renovation reflects a thoughtful collaboration between DHD Architecture and Interior Design, a longtime client, and a roster of exceptional artists, furniture designers, and makers. Through a partial architectural renovation and comprehensive interior design, DHD transformed the residence with a refined yet highly personal approach, carefully balancing the existing architecture with new interventions, custom elements, and furnishings. The result is a sophisticated New York City apartment that feels distinctly of Manhattan while remaining warm, comfortable, and deeply livable.
Throughout the home, architecture and interiors are brought together through a carefully layered palette of light, materials, art, and sculptural furnishings. A Vladimir Kagan sectional with an integrated bookcase and two iconic swivel chairs anchors the living room, complemented by Lindsey Adelman lighting and pieces by other talented artists and makers. Adelman’s sculptural lighting became an integral part of the project over the course of the collaboration, creating unexpected moments of character, warmth, shadow, and sheen throughout the residence. Together, these elements create a highly considered interior that feels collected rather than overly designed, demonstrating DHD’s approach to bespoke residential architecture and interior design in New York City.
